Privacy Policy

Buddy AI Navigator ("Buddy AI" for short; formerly Knowledge Navigator; the "App") is an AI personal assistant application provided by NOBUHIRO KAWACHI ("we", "us"). This policy explains how the App handles personal information.

1. Information We Collect

1-1. Information You Provide

All of these are optional. The App remains usable if you leave fields blank.

1-2. Information Generated Automatically

The App requires no account registration and never asks for an email address or password within the app. If you use the contact form on our support site, you will be asked for contact details so that we can reply.

1-3. Device Permissions

Each is used only after you grant permission through the iOS permission dialog. Declining disables only the corresponding feature.

Voice input and meeting-minute transcription use the speech recognition built into iOS (Apple Inc.). The meeting-minutes feature does not save audio recordings; it handles only the transcribed text. Only the transcribed text is sent to our server.

For the calendar, in order to generate responses that take your schedule into account, upcoming events (title, date and time, location) are sent to the AI service. Only the next few days are sent. Events read from your calendar are not stored in our database as standalone data; however, if they appear in a conversation with the AI, they are kept on your device as part of your conversation history, and may be saved as Conversation Memory (see 1-4). If you decline calendar access, this feature will not work, but all other features remain available.

1-4. Conversation Memory

To give responses that suit you better, the App uses AI to automatically pick out and save things from your conversations that are useful to remember (such as your family, work, preferences, scheduling habits, and health matters you mention). Saved memories are passed to the AI in later conversations.

You can view saved memories and delete them one by one under "Individual memories" in the App's settings screen. To have all memories deleted, contact us at the address in Section 10.

2. Where Data Is Stored

Your conversation history, profile, and tasks are stored on your device. When the AI prepares a response, the necessary parts are sent to the AI service through our server, but they are not stored on our server.

Our server stores only your anonymous device identifier, Conversation Memory (see 1-4), usage data, and subscription status. These are stored in a database located in Singapore (Neon PostgreSQL). Data is keyed to an anonymous device identifier; we do not identify individuals by name or email address.

3. Third-Party Services

To operate the App, we transmit information to the following providers, limited to what each requires.

If you tap a map button, the shop name and area are passed to Apple Maps or Google Maps.

Each provider handles data according to its own privacy policy.

We have confirmed that each of the providers listed above offers data protection equivalent to or stronger than that described in this policy. In particular, Anthropic, PBC states that data submitted through its API is not used to train its models.

4. Information Sharing

We do not share your information with third parties except:

• With your explicit consent
• When required by law
• Transmission to the services necessary to operate the App (see Section 3)

We do not use collected information for advertising, and we do not sell it.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

We automatically delete data stored on our server after the following periods.

Our server logs do not record the content of your requests or the text of AI responses. If we end the service, we will delete all stored data.

Because some data is stored on our server, deleting the App from your device does not immediately delete data held on the server.

To request deletion, contact us at the address below. Please include the anonymous device identifier (device_id) shown in the App's settings screen so we can locate and delete the corresponding data.

6. Subscriptions

The paid plan, Buddy AI Premium, is an auto-renewable subscription.

• New subscribers receive a one-month free trial
• After the free trial ends, the subscription renews automatically unless cancelled, at ¥980 per month in Japan. Prices in other regions are shown in the App Store
• Renewal occurs unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
• You can cancel in iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions
• All payment, renewal, and cancellation is handled by Apple; we do not retain payment information
• Refunds follow the App Store refund policy

7. Children

The App is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If we learn that a child under 13 has used the App, we will delete the associated data.

Users aged 13 to 17 should use the App with the consent of a parent or guardian.

8. Security

We use encrypted transport (HTTPS) and appropriate access controls. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

9. Changes to This Policy

We will announce changes on this page. For significant changes, we will also provide notice in the App or in the App Store release notes.
